WHO WE ARE
Established in the spring of 1999, the Child
Care Advocacy Forum is an alliance of five provincial child care organizations
that brings together over 4000 individuals, groups and child care providers
in BC. While continuing to work on their own organizational priorities,
the member organizations of the Forum work together to advance a Common
Vision and Agenda for Child Care in BC.
The Advocacy Forum plays a leadership
role in mobilizing public support for child care and has initiated
advocacy strategies and campaigns related to recent policy changes
and funding cuts to child care in BC, federal and provincial budgets,
the Federal/Provincial/Territorial Early Childhood Development
Agreement and child care as a cornerstone of early childhood development
services.
The work of the Forum is supported through
a grant from the Vancouver Foundation (sponsored by SFU Childcare
Society) and Status of Women Canada BC/Yukon Division (sponsored
by the Coalition of Child Care Advocates of BC). These projects
are enabling the Forum to increase our support for regional
advocacy across BC.
