Smart Solutions for BC Families  »  Take Action!

The evidence is clear — a publicly funded, coordinated child care system IS possible. We CAN meet the diverse needs of children and families in our communities. Here are some ideas of what YOU can do to keep child care solutions on the front burner:

» Contact your MLA
Write them, phone them, meet with them in person, and share your experiences and your concerns. Ask them what they will do to make a publicly funded child care system a reality in our province.

You can also contact:

» Contact your MP and the Prime Minister and let them know that Canada’s inaction on child care is not acceptable.

» Talk to your municipal/regional representatives, Chambers of Commerce, local businesses and child care tables at the community level (e.g. Success by Six, Children First).

» If you have a specific case or concern, contact the Representative for Children and Youth. Her office is set up to help resolve individual problems AND monitor how government is meeting children’s needs.

» Join one or more of the member organizations of the BC Child Care Advocacy Forum.

» And, most importantly, talk to other parents, friends, and colleagues. What have they experienced? Share the information on this website with them and keep the conversation going.
